Happy Hump Day Glam Gals! It’s that time again, time to update you on our progress over here at the White House for Wayward Women & Children! Just typing that makes me laugh because on any given day, this house really does seem to get a little crazy. Last week I hosted a small birthday party for my sister, and small for us is about 50 people, mostly family, or framily, which is the only reason I got away with hosting a “party.” We had a great time, and the biggest benefit of not having furniture is there’s always a dance floor available!
Last week I drove to New York to pack Ana’s dorm room, as her first year at college is over. Time flies. Resisting the urge to rent a larger vehicle, I was ecstatic when we were able to cram all her things into our older smaller SUV. Not so happy seeing how she’s crammed it all into her room at home, but hoping she’ll tidy the mess soon. And just like that, we’re back to one big happy crazy family all under one roof! Let the waywardness begin!
So what’s going on around the house you ask? Well let’s see . . .
Welcome to what will soon be the new location of my garden. Last year it was housed alongside our garage. This year, Kevin wants to put a patio set over there, so I had to relocate. This space looks as good as any. It sits right off of our side porch and has adequate sun throughout the day. My cucumbers and squash will be free to climb the fence, alongside the wall might be perfect for lettuce, but the hard part first; digging.
Here’s Day 1 Progress, and as you can see I had a little help.
Day 2 we had to bring in the heavy artillery and boy did they work hard! That hole on the left is a stump I dug up, and it was not a willing participant. Unfortunately there was no Day 3 due to the weather. The Boy and I are still patiently waiting to get back out there to finish up and begin planting. With nothing left for us to do on the outside, I came inside to harass Kevin!
In addition to everything else he continues to do with our walls, Kevin removed and replaced the old trim around our powder room. While I don’t quite view this as the kitchen area, he was insistent we do this now so we can install the crown molding and trim all at once in this general area. I just wish we’d get there . . .
So there you have it. The rain continues to stall my efforts outside, but Kevin remains dedicated to the small details which will make the inside stunning. See you next week gals, and I hope the rest of your week is great!
