Thursday’s are for Thrifting! My opportunity to share with you my best finds of the week on my never-ending quest for the next great restoration!
This week’s find is courtesy of My Big Baby. After seeing last week’s chair makeover, she requested a chair for her bedroom. Actually she tried to take those two, but seeing as how they’re for sale, that just wasn’t an option! Instead, I offered to find her a chair that I could redo; which led me to craigslist.
Almost as good as the price, was the description of this vintage cane sitting chair. Sir, do you really have specific seating for unwanted guests? And you’re parking them right where? Amused is an understatement and when I picked up the chair, he was just as entertaining in person. Now retired, he worked for NASA for over 30 years. Engaged once, but never married he had a lifetime of odds & ends stored in not one, but two storage units. Even spoke of a sofa his mom had made of pecan wood. Never heard of such a thing, but he promised to send me a photograph of it.
Now in my dreams, I’ll paint and reupholster this chair, and it will look fantabulous! I spotted these beauties on The DIY Mommy blog, but the catch is her mom’s a professional upholsterer!
She didn’t want to ruin the chairs, so her mom offered to upholster them for her. What that probably means is she begged her mom, I mean that’s what I would do. But rest assured Glam Girls, there is no mom to the rescue over here! We will learn from our mistakes, of which I’m sure there will be many, but what do we have to lose besides a little dignity, right?
Not sure when I will begin them, but when I do, you will be the first to know! And if any of you know Christina, ask if her mom can adopt me!
