Today’s Makeover Monday is brought to you by the letters D O H! As in the sound Homer Simpson makes when he’s about to do something stupid or a bad thing happens as a result of his stupidity. Well, that is my makeover this week. You see, I’ve been working on two side tables for Ana’s room for what seems like forever. I totally thought I would have them done by now; yeah, didn’t happen. Completely underestimated the power of what I think is mahogany, the staying power of glue and overestimated my ability to complete both tables in a week . . . One table might be ready next week. Might!
In the meantime, I had a bench I purchased probably two months ago. Initially, I was pairing it with the vanity I painted last month, but that sold faster than I expected so, the poor bench was left all alone. It was in sad shape, but mostly due to it being used I assume. The fabric was dingy, the cushion had lost all shape. It appeared to have been covered several times, but not very well and there was a small split in the wood.
Well, with a little elbow grease and lots of TLC, I’m happy to show you guys the finished product. I love how this turned out and truly believe new life was breathed into something discarded.
The fabric was purchased at Joanne’s and I thought perfect for a vanity with its’ Paris theme.
I repaired the split using wood glue, sanded it; not as smooth a repair as I would have preferred, but certainly a great deal sturdier.
So what do you think? Any tips? Would love to hear them!
